Surveyed 69 current and former graduate students to determine attitude change, perception of expectations, and factors influencing research. Analysis of the data showed that although students perceived their program's expectations for research to be greater than their own wants, the students' interest increased throughout and after trainng. Evaluated the effectiveness of assertiveness training in 59 counselor trainees working with depressed clients. Results showed supervisors rated the experimental group higher, but differences on other measures such as reduction of depression in clients and client ratings of counselors were not statistically significant.
