Examined the effect of role continuity in a rural Mediterranean society. Results indicated continuity in a woman's core role of housewife exists but so does discontinuity with the conflicting roles which make up her role set. Administered the Raven Progressive Matrices (RPM) to (N=408) individuals in 100 family groups. Scores on all five subtests were highest in the 18-26 age group, decreasing with age. Males scored higher on each subtest in each age group. Performance on the RPM increased with additional years of education. (Author)

In this study self-concept, as measured by subjects' self-ratings of mechanical ability, was correlated to scores on the Pourchot Mechanical Manipulation Test of bilateral hand tool dexterity.
