Webb, Thomas E.; And Others – Elementary School Guidance and Counseling, 1984
Used the Structured Pediatric Psychological Interview to compare affective distress in 1,015 children and adolescents. Results showed a trend toward more significant affective distress in elementary students than adolescents in four of nine attributes, suggesting implications for school counselors. (JAC)

Studied the timing of family formation in four Asian countries: Taiwan, Korea, Thailand, and Malaysia (N=14,849), and the operation of sociostructural variables in these societies. Explored the ability of 269 students in grades 8, 10, and 12, to estimate their scores on psychometric instruments measuring self-awareness. No sex or age differences were found, but Black students were less accurate in their self-assessments than whites. Since 1968, the Adopted Grandparents program has been part of the curriculum for pupils enrolled at P. K. Yonge Laboratory School. Residents of a nearby nursing home are "adopted grandparents."
