Efficacy of Multimedia-Based Instruction (MMBI) on Mathematics Anxiety (MA) and Mathematics Problem-Solving Ability (MPA): A Theoretical Approach
Learning: Research and Practice, v11 n1 p152-172 2025
Cutting-edge technology enhances the teaching-learning process, with Multimedia-Based Instruction (MMBI) emerging as a powerful tool to achieve educational goals. MMBI creates visually engaging, resource-rich materials that support students in understanding abstract mathematical concepts, boosting interest and curiosity. According to Mayer (2001), multimedia inputs engage sensory memory, aiding the transfer of knowledge to long-term memory through experiential learning. Mathematics, as a language, fosters reasoning, but students' fear or dislike can trigger Mathematics Anxiety, hindering performance. This conceptual paper explores how MMBI effectively reduces math anxiety by improving sensory engagement and conceptual understanding, ultimately boosting students' confidence and problem-solving ability.
