Westbrook, Bert W.; And Others – Journal of Vocational Behavior, 1985
Investigated the predictive and construct validity of six experimental measures of career maturity among high school students. Data provide some support for the construct and predictive validity of four of the six career maturity scales. Some technical issues and possible sources of invalidity are discussed, and recommedations are made for future…

Adams, Judith L.; And Others – American Journal of Mental Deficiency, 1984
The predictive efficiency of Home Observation for Measurement of Environment (HOME) with 51 infants from low-income families at-risk for developmental retardation was assessed. At both 6 and 18 months, the discriminant function of the HOME was found to be moderately sensitive in identifying children in the low-IQ group. (Author/CL)

Examined the congruence between conventional cutoff scores on the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) and selected diagnostic classifications of the Research Diagnostic Criteria in a sample of 102 elders seeking psychological treatment. Holcomb, William R.; And Others – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1984
Tested the validity of the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) with accused murderers (N=96) undergoing pre-trial evaluations. Results indicated four predictors of MMPI elevated scores: low intelligence, history of drug abuse, suspiciousness observed on the ward, and the fact that the accused was a stranger to the victim. Mishra, Shitala P. – Psychology in the Schools, 1983
Examined the predictive validity of the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (Revised) in 64 Mexican-American children. All the correlations among the WISC-R factor scores and academic achievement were low. In contrast, significant relationships were observed between IQ scores and achievement measures, suggesting utility of the WISC-R IQs in…

Jorgenson, Dale O. – J Educ Meas, 1970
Results in this study suggest that it is possible to use performance on a moderator or predictability scale to select a subgroup for whom correspondence between two predictors and the criterion is much greater than that of a subgroup whose scores on the moderator indicate a lesser degree of correspondence. Anderson, Robert P.; Lawlis, G. Frank – Journal of Counseling Psychology, 1972
The SVIB was administered to culturally handicapped women. The results indicted that major interest profiles were evident and predicted vocational placement significantly; however, the SVIB did not discriminate which indicated that the instrument was not a motivation index. (Author)

Wallach, Michael A. – Impact of Science on Society, 1971
Industrially advanced societies increasingly encourage the skills of bureaucrats and technicians rather than the creative ones--because their universities admit students on the basis of intelligence-test scores and secondary school grades, two measures which have practically no correlation with real-life creativity."
