Vocational scales other than those describing the occupational group in question may often predict job performance. A case is reported using Holland's Self Directed Search and two groups of policemen. Scores on the Artistic and Conventional scales consistently predict effective performance as a patrolman. (Author)

As predicted, high-oral clients showed better understanding of their counselor's personal qualities than did low-oral clients. Orality produced a need to observe the counselor closely. Female clients of male counselors make the best predictors. (Author)

Coleman, Marilyn; And Others – Psychology in the Schools, 1980
The mean IQ on the Slosson Intelligence Test (SIT) was substantially higher than expected based on the earlier Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test (PPVT) scores. Sampling error and examiner error were excluded as explanations. Results suggest that the PPVT and SIT yield different scores and lack comparability. (Author)

The validity and reliability of the Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test was estimated with emotionally disturbed adolescents. Results indicated that the power of the test to predict future achievement of emotionally disturbed adolescents is comparable to that expected for normals. (Author)

Results indicate that prisoners who received major disciplinary sanctions were not readily differentiated from a randomly selected comparison group on the basis of correctional data. However, maladjusted inmates tended to be younger. Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory data was used. (Author)

Therapists responded to a videotaped simulated family as if they were treating it. Positive relationships were found between the ratings of expertise based on the coding system, and between independent ratings of the treated families' satisfaction with treatment and the status of the presenting symptoms six months after termination. The responses of 322 beginning first graders to the six subtests of the Metropolitan Readiness Test were factor analyzed. A single General Readiness factor appeared to best describe the instrument. Implications for use of the Metropolitan Readiness Test are briefly discussed. (Author)
