Transforming Professional Learning in Northern Kentucky
Suzanne Bouffard
Learning Professional, v46 n3 p48-51 2025
When the staff at Northern Kentucky Cooperative for Educational Services (NKCES) discovered a new road to higher quality professional learning and better outcomes for students, they jumped on it and quickly decided they weren't going back. Three years ago Chief Academic Officer Melody Stacy and her colleagues learned about the Standards for Professional Learning developed by Learning Forward and saw their new path open up. The standards have since transformed the professional learning the organization provides to districts, ensuring that it is evidence-based and tailored to student needs. On the journey to providing gold standard professional learning, the NKCES team continually assesses its services, celebrates success, and keeps improving. They now have evidence that their professional learning is higher quality today than it was three years ago, and they see that paying off in districts.
