The Twenty Statements Test was administered to university students in Japan, the United States, and Hong Kong to assess cultural influences on self-concept. Using behavioral descriptions of 60 supervisor activities, surveyed faculty and doctoral students to determine if a distinction exists among three supervisor roles (teacher, counselor, consultant). Investigated the correlates of career salience for members of 127 dual-career families, developing a psychological model. High amounts of variance were explained for both men and women, though the explained variance was higher for men. The mean career salience scores for men and women were not significantly different. Reports results of a study to determine to what extent enrollees in adult evening classes perceived how their future student role would relate to class attendance. The author found that few students really appreciated the degree of commitment required and suggests that school staff should provide more pre-enrollment information. (MF)
