Reports a study that investigated the prevalence of tobacco use by high school students (n=10,904) and the usual source of cigarettes. Survey data indicated that smoking increased from 1991-95. Most students bought cigarettes from vending machines, one-third borrowed them from someone else, and 15% had someone else buy them. (SM)

Used National Survey of Black Americans data set to examine level of familial involvement among two groups of Black adults (n=2,107) who report that they do not receive financial assistance from their extended families. Conducted a national survey of certified rehabilitation counselors (N=627) to investigate their experiences with the death of a client. Found over 60 percent had experienced the death of a client between 1982 and 1985. Results suggest that experience of a client's death affects counselor's emotional, occupational, and personal life.
