Komiak, Josephine M. – American Biology Teacher, 1971
Reviews the scientific literature related to insecticide accumulation, toxicity, metabolism and human effects, and discusses the implications of the findings. (AL)

Bassingthwaighte, James B. – Science, 1970
Descriptors: Biology, College Science, Human Body, Models
Borkovec, Thomas D. – J Consult Clin Psychol, 1970
By monitoring skin conductance and heart rate of 19 psychopathic, 21 neurotic, and 26 normal juvenile delinquents, it was concluded that the psychopathic autonomic characteristics resides in lower initial reactivity and not in more rapid adaptation, at least in response to a simple auditory stimulus. (Author/KJ)

Speidel, J. Joseph – Journal of Sex Research, 1970
The results of this study on investigating the knowledge of contraceptive techniques among a hospital population of low socioeconomic status showed that less than half of the respondents possessed knowledge which seemed to be adequate to allow them to use the method effectively. (Author/KJ)

Descriptors: Auditory Perception, Exceptional Child Research, Hearing (Physiology), Speech Handicaps
Gerrits, Roger J. – Sci Teacher, 1970
The functions of pituitary and sex hormones in the production of muscle in animals are discussed. A mechanism for hormone action is suggested. (LC)

Edwards, Charles – Physiologist, 1982
Students often have difficulty in understanding the processes responsible for the ionic basis of the membrane potential. Because descriptions in textbooks are not satisfactory and in some cases in error, a discussion of the processes underlying the potential (combining known results) is provided. (Author/JN)
Descriptors: Biochemistry, Biology, College Science, Cytology
Rainforth, Beverly – Journal of the Association for the Severely Handicapped (JASH), 1982
Literature is reviewed on biobehavioral state and orienting (the reflex alerting to a novel stimuli and resulting in physiological arousal) in an attempt to identify conditions that are prerequisite to or facilitate learning in the profoundly retarded. Several areas are identified where further research is needed. (Author)

Reite, Martin; And Others – Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry and Allied Disciplines, 1981
The influence of 10 days of maternal separation on behavior and physiology was studied in monkey infants. Individual variability in behavioral and physiological response was marked and showed only minimal correlation with measures of early behavioral development and early mother-infant interaction. Implications for understanding pathophysiology of…
