Kranzler, John H.; And Others – Intelligence, 1993
J.H. Kranzler and A.R. Jensen report on a reanalysis of previous data that is again inconsistent with the hypothesis that psychometric "g" is unitary. J.B. Carroll reiterates objections to the evidence that Kranzler and Jensen offer in support of a composite "g." (SLD)

Bors, Douglas A.; Stokes, Tonya L. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1998
First-year college students (n=506) completed Raven's Advanced Progressive Matrices (J. Raven, J. Court, and J. Raven, 1988). Data were used to contribute to the normative database for American college students. A short form developed from 12 items of the original 36 was found to possess acceptable psychometric properties. Weiner, John A.; Gibson, Wade M. – Journal of Educational Measurement, 1998
Describes a procedure for automated-test-forms assembly based on Classical Test Theory (CTT). The procedure uses stratified random-content sampling and test-form preequating to ensure both content and psychometric equivalence in generating virtually unlimited parallel forms. Extends the usefulness of CTT in automated test construction. (Author/SLD)

Wolfe, Edward W.; Kao, Chi-Wen; Ranney, Michael – Written Communication, 1998
Examines behavioral differences of essay scorers who demonstrate different levels of proficiency. Compares three proficiency groups to identify differences in essay features considered, understandings of the scoring rubric, and decision-making procedures. Crawford, J. R.; Deary, Ian J.; Allan, Katherine M.; Gustafsson, Jan-Eric – Intelligence, 1998
Confirmatory factor analysis was used to test models of the relationship between inspection time (IT) and psychometric measures of intelligence in a sample of 134 healthy adults in the United Kingdom. A nested structural equation modeling approach shows that IT is most strongly associated with the Perceptual-Organizational factor of the Wechsler…

Velozzo, Craig A.; Lai, Jin-Shei; Mallinson, Trudy; Hauselman, Ellyn – Journal of Outcome Measurement, 2001
Studied how Rasch analysis could be used to reduce the number of items in an instrument while maintaining credible psychometric properties. Applied the approach to the Visual Function-14 developed to measure the need for and outcomes of cataract surgery. Results show how Rasch analysis can be useful in designing modifications of instruments. (SLD)

Case, Robbie; Demetriou, Andreas; Platsidou, Matria; Kazi, Smaragda – Intelligence, 2001
Studied a possible convergence in the structure of cognitive abilities as specified by classical psychometric theory and two neo-Piagetian theories of cognitive development by administering a large test battery to 120 children aged 7 to 10. Results support the integration of several theories of intelligence into a comprehensive system. (SLD)

Danthiir, Vanessa; Roberts, Richard D.; Pallier, Gerry; Stankov, Lazar – Intelligence, 2001
Studied the role of olfactory processes within the theory of fluid and crystallized intelligence by testing 107 Australian college students with a battery of psychometric and olfactory tests. van Daal, John; Verhoeven, Ludo; van Balkom, Hans – Journal of Speech, Language, and Hearing Research, 2004
Most, if not all, of the studies of subtypes of children with language impairments have been conducted with English-speaking children.
