A survey of secondary schools in the Oyo and Ogun States of Nigeria indicated only 7 of 25 schools had professional counselors; counselled students had less adjustment problems than noncounselled students; and the most frequently recurring counselling problems were related to clients' study habits and associated emotional upheavals. The survey of 175 Florida teachers of the emotionally handicapped (EH) found that five characteristics were thought to be descriptive of mildly disturbed children and five were thought most descriptive of severely disturbed children, while no consensus was obtained with regard to the moderately disturbed category.
