GeoCamp Amazon: Geography Education from a Latin American Perspective
Geography Teacher, v22 n3 p126-128 2025
GeoCamp was a place-based intensive short course in geographic inquiry and field methods for in-service teachers and education professionals held from July 18 to 27, 2022, in Iquitos, Peru, and the Loreto region of the Amazon. The course aimed to incorporate elements of geographic inquiry by exploring how plants, animals, and humans interact in this extreme environment. The purpose of this essay is to explore how the experiences lived need to be analyzed with a perspective that values "Latin American environmental thinking" and the "critical geography of the Global South."
