Research was undertaken to examine the effects of a critical mass policy (concentrating funds) on student achievement in compensatory education programs in California. No consistent, positive relationship was found between the level or composition of educational resources and achievement test scores in reading and mathematics. (MH)

Factor analysis was used to determine whether computerized patient management problems had the same factor structure as multiple choice examinations and rating scales. It was determined that the factor structure was similar to the examinations but not the rating scale. (JKS)

Sixty-six mothers and 34 preschool teachers were compared on two types of adult-child interaction. Although both groups were similar on some tasks, mothers asked for more responses, made more direct requests and commands, and gave more explicit and corrective feedback following children's errors.
