In line with earlier findings pertaining to student activists, legitimation of activism in this study was found to be associated with: (1) location in academic rather than vocational curricula; (2) being highly secular or non-religious; (3) educational goals not oriented to income or status; and, (4) reference group salience of peers over parents.…

A study of media performance reveals improvements and a helthy willingness to experiment with new procedures. Certain shortcomings, however, persist; media still lack sensitivity, sophistication, and skepticism commensurate with their important and strategic position. (DM)
