Immigrant entrepreneurship is analyzed and evaluated using Koreans as an example. By participating in capitalism, immigrants are perpetuating the system that oppresses them. They should use their experiences of oppression to rise above this system and create a new social order based on the value and dignity of all. (VM)

The movement to gain civil rights for Black people was largely carried out by women, such as Ella Baker. She was a consumer advocate and an executive in major civil rights organizations. She did not seek public attention but deserves acknowledgement for her contributions. (VM)

A gathering of anarchists, communists, socialists, communitarians, social democrats, gay-rights activists, and other radical groups at the National Student Convention broke up with little to agree upon. Students differed over whether they should forbid the inclusion of Marxist-Leninist groups. (MLW)

The Woman Suffrage Movement experienced ideological changes so that earlier and later suffragists had different views. Elizabeth Boynton Harbert was one reformer who first criticized female socialization and the system of separate spheres. The appointment of a hearing person as president of Gallaudet University, the nation's only university for the deaf, triggered bitter student protests that closed the campus and raised issues of oppression of the deaf community. (MSE)

A discussion of the relationship of politics and the welfare of research animals looks at the nineteenth-century history of the issue, current activism in Europe, recent legislative and political action in the United States, and the position of the biomedical community, and provides guidelines for political action. Examined the impact of the conjugal unit on church activism. Showed that the most powerful influence on the church activism of either husband or wife was the activism of the spouse, particularly the wife.
