Guilmette, Thomas J.; Kennedy, Mary Lynne – Assessment, 1997
The Wide Range Assessment of Memory and Learning (WRAML) (D. Sheslow and W. Adams, 1990) was given to 51 children. The General Memory Index (GMI) of the WRAML was compared with a short form of the WRAML, the Memory Screening Index (MSI). The MSI was higher than the GMI in 41 of 51 cases. (SLD)

Fernandez, Alberto Luis; Scheffel, Debora L. – International Journal of Testing, 2003
Evaluated the criterion validity of the Mattis Dementia Rating Scale (S. Mattis, 1988) with a concurrent study to obtain a cut-off score for an Argentinean population by administering a battery of tests to 60 memory disorder patients. Findings demonstrate high convergent validity with another measure and show an appropriate cut score for use with…

Cox, Maureen V.; Isard, Sarah – Journal of Child Language, 1990
Describes a study that concluded that children generally treat the spatial locatives "in front of" and "behind" in a nondeictic way when a referent object with an obvious front is involved. Tasks that emphasized the viewpoint of the observer, however, caused a deictic response. (GLR)

Dempsey, Jody – Diagnostique, 1988
The repeated psychological assessment of 41 high-risk infants during the first 2 years of life using the Mental Scale of the Bayley Scales of Infant Development was investigated. Minnaert, Alexander; Janssen, Piet J. – Learning and Instruction, 1999
Analyses of variance of cognitive test results of about 500 college freshmen reveal significant main effects of verbal and numerical (crystallized) intelligence and of cognitive regulatory activities on academic performance. Reichle, Erik D.; Carpenter, Patricia A.; Just, Marcel Adam – Cognitive Psychology, 2000
Used Magnetic Resonance Imaging to examine the relation between cognitive skill and the cortical activation engendered by linguistic or visual-spatial strategies in a sentence-picture task. Results with 12 adults indicate that language and visual-spatial processing are supported by partially separable networks of cortical regions and suggests the…

Stenning, Keith; van Lambalgen, Michiel – Cognitive Science, 2004
Modern logic provides accounts of both interpretation and derivation which work together to provide abstract frameworks for modelling the sensitivity of human reasoning to task, context and content. Cognitive theories have underplayed the importance of interpretative processes. We illustrate, using Wason's [Q. J. Exp. Psychol. 20 (1968) 273]…

Hunt, R. Reed; Lamb, Christopher A. – Journal of Experimental Psychology: Learning, Memory, and Cognition, 2006
Prominent views of implicit priming agree that repetition of category exemplars should increase the probability of the exemplar coming to mind on a category production test. This prediction has been borne out in the data of numerous experiments that have used relatively high-frequency exemplars, but experiments that have used lower frequency…

The looking behavior of children with pervasive developmental disorder (PDD) and age- and IQ-matched normal control children was studied using infrared oculography. Stimuli varying in complexity and topic were presented to test whether children with PDD have specific abnormalities in looking behavior to complex stimuli and/or to faces. All…
