Effects of instructional strategies and demographic variables on attitudes toward disabled persons were studied. A pre- and postexperimental design study, using independent study, lecture, and film, revealed no effect for instructional strategies. Some demographic variables seemed to affect attitudes. A meta-analytic method synthesized results of 108 studies of the relationship between college grades and various criteria of adult achievement or success. To identify some of the specific cognitive correlates of high-quality, audience-adapted writing, 35 college freshmen wrote a typical academic essay and also a persuasive appeal directed toward a specific readership.
