Prevalence estimates of psychiatric disorders in 10-year-old rural Norwegian children were based on responses to symptom checklists distributed to parents and teachers. A social-cognitive strategy of therapy was employed, emphasizing the use of dissonant persuasive communications and a therapeutic double bind.
