The results of this study support and expand upon previous research indicating that adolescent drug and alcohol use is greatly affected by family factors: adolescents who abstain from drug and alcohol use and abuse come from families who are qualitatively different from the families of adolescents who use and abuse substances. This study of intermediate and secondary teachers' personality types, based on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, suggests that the Intuitive-Thinking types were more likely to use technology than the Sensory-Feeling types. Questioned 2,291 American males to determine the proportion of men who assault only extrafamilial persons, are violent only toward their wives, and are violent in both spheres. Results suggest that 90 percent of violent males specialized in their choice of victims, choosing to assault only wives or nonfamily members, but not both. (RJM)

This longitudinal 1-year study examined the continuity of temperamental difficulty in a school-based sample of 975 middle adolescents. Data suggest that continuity and level of temperamental difficulty are linearly related to ratings of psychosocial functioning in several domains. Gender differences are also discussed. (SLD)

Finds that differences in parent and teacher ratings of low ability readers were more pronounced than the differences for high ability readers.
