The view that poverty and riches are caused by two distinct personality traits is perpetuated through educational materials. Examples drawn from secondary social studies texts and adult education programs in India illustrate how an educational system is a medium of cultural dissemination and political control. (AM)

Subjects with higher verbal than performance IQ's achieved significantly poorer Pascal-Suttell Bender-Gestalt scores than subjects with higher performance over verbal IQ's. The latter subjects were more likely to have dropped out of high school and to have spent some time in prison. (Author/RD)

Examined the relationship between university professors' (N=120) work orientation and attitudes toward their work. Found that a global work orientation is a strong predictor of attitudes toward intrinsic aspects of work in social sciences and a moderate predictor in physical sciences. (Author)

Tested the hypothesis that Rorschach measures of object relations and thought organization could help predict later adjustment. Former patients (N=70) at a child residential treatment center were followed up as adults. Object relations measures were found to be effective discriminators and predictors of later rehospitalization for boys. (JAC)

Examined personality characteristics of Mexican American college freshmen (N=600) as a function of specific sociocultural values. Results of the Sixteen Personality Factors Questionnaire, Form C, showed significant differences between male and female, and urban and rural students, but not between high and low socioeconomic status students.…

Data from questionnaires administered to 163 company middle managers and from their personnel files revealed that the 87 managers from a division using the management-by-objectives appraisal system are more satisfied with this system and its feedback than are the 76 respondents from a division using a subjective appraisal system.
