Hojat, Mohammadreza; Fields, Sylvia K.; Veloski, J. Jon; Griffiths, Margaret; Cohen, Mitchell J. M.; Plumb, James D. – Evaluation and the Health Professions, 1999
Examined the psychometric properties of an assessment tool for measuring attitudes toward physician/nurse collaboration. Survey results from 208 medical students and 86 nursing students support the construct validity and reliability of the scale, which can be used to evaluate programs designed to foster physician/nurse collaboration. Oyler, Robert F.; Rosenhagen, Kristine M.; Michal, Mary L. – Language, Speech, and Hearing Services in Schools, 1998
The Auditory Continuous Performance Test (ACPT) was evaluated with 12 children diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and 11 children without ADHD. The study found that the ACPT has acceptable specificity but very low sensitivity and thus cannot currently be recommended as a screening test for ADHD. (Author/DB)

Vispoel, Walter P.; Hendrickson, Amy B.; Bleiler, Timothy – Journal of Educational Measurement, 2000
Evaluated the effectiveness of vocabulary computerized adaptive tests (CATs) with restricted review in a live testing setting involving 242 college students in which special efforts were made to increase test efficiency and reduce the possibility of obtaining positively biased proficiency estimates. Results suggest the efficacy of allowing limited…

Mayes, Susan Dickerson – Journal of Early Intervention, 1997
Analysis of effects of different starting points on the Bayley Scales of Infant Development II Mental Scale found that starting at the child's chronological age consistently inflated scores, whereas starting at the lowest item set skewed results in the opposite direction. Testing downward until all items are passed and upward until all items are…

Affleck, Louise; Jennett, Penny – Journal of Continuing Education in the Health Professions, 1998
Chart audit (assessment of patient medical records) is a cost-effective continuing-education needs-assessment method. Chart stimulated recall, in which physicians' memory of particular cases is stimulated by records, potentially increases content validity and exploration of clinical reasoning as well as the context of clinical decisions. Bryant, Richard A.; Harvey, Allison G.; Dang, Suzanne T.; Sackville, Tanya – Psychological Assessment, 1998
A structured clinical interview, the Acute Stress Disorder Inventory, was developed to diagnose acute stress disorder. It was validated against clinician-based diagnoses of 65 trauma patients, and its test-retest reliability was assessed with 60 trauma survivors. Results suggest that the interview is a useful diagnostic tool. (SLD)

Ferrando, Pere J.; Lorenzo, Urbano – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1998
A program for obtaining ability estimates and their standard errors under a variety of psychometric models is documented. The general models considered are (1) classical test theory; (2) item factor analysis for continuous censored responses; and (3) unidimensional and multidimensional item response theory graded response models. (SLD)

Pajares, Frank; Hartley, James; Valiante, Giovanni – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2001
Compares writing self-efficacy scales differing in response format among a group of middle school students (N=497). Results reveal that a scale with a 0-100 format was psychometrically stronger than a scale with a traditional Likert format. Also reveals that children at the middle school level can indeed make a discriminating judgment using a…

Examines construct validity and psychometric properties of the Multi-Attitude Suicide Tendency Scale in adolescent psychiatric inpatients. Confirmatory factor analysis provides support for the fit of the 28-item, four-factor model. Results of regression analyses reveal that high scores on the repulsion by life and the attraction to death subscales…
