Short- and long-term effects of a parent-infant training program for biologically handicapped infants was evaluated in terms of maternal locus of control. Results indicated that maternal locus of control accounted for a substantial portion of the variance in the infants' developmental gains following the program intervention period. (Author/RH)

Barling, Julian – Child Development, 1979
A total of 309 children were divided into eight groups on the basis of their Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test scores. The Nowicki-Strickland Locus of Control (LOC) Scale and the Children's Psychological Conservatism Scale were administered. Findings indicate a curvilinear relationship between verbal ability and the reliability of the LOC scale. (RH)

The tone of children's responses was positive yet realistic. Children did not view their parent's divorce as an overly distressing experience. The Reid-Ware Three Factor Locus of Control Scale and Templer Death Anxiety Scale were administered to college students aged 17 to 49.
