Riley, Gary F.; Eberhardt, William H. – Journal of Chemical Education, 1979
In this general chemistry experiment students calculate changes in free energy of formation of inorganic salts from the free energy of formation of ions. Then they test the conclusions of their calculations by mixing solutions of the ions. (BB)

Kartalopoulos, Stamatios V. – Journal of College Science Teaching, 1979
Describes a laboratory demonstration that can be used to convert an analog quantity into frequency, which can then be converted into a binary measure using either an oscilloscope or a frequency counter. (MA)

Blatt, Rita G. – Journal of Chemical Education, 1979
This is a college-level general chemistry experiment. (BB)

Osborne, Roger – Journal of Research in Science Teaching, 1976
Describes how student responses to 26 bipolar adjectives describing laboratory studies are used at a New Zealand university to modify the content of laboratory experiments in physics. (MLH)

Baumgarten, Reuben L.; And Others – Journal of Chemical Education, 1977
Describes a classification test that uses a sodium nitroprusside reagent to identify aliphatic and aryl amines. (MLH)
Descriptors: Chemical Analysis, Chemistry, College Science, Higher Education
Reynolds, James H. – Journal of Experimental Psychology: Human Learning and Memory, 1977
Tulving and others (Tulving, 1974; Tulving & Madigan, 1970) have distinguished two kinds of forgetting of verbal information: trace-dependent forgetting and cue-dependent forgetting. Attempts to determine which type occurs in retroactive inhibition of free-recall learning. (Author/RK)

Kidder, Louise H.; And Others – Journal of Experimental Social Psychology, 1977
The degree of equality or equity in reward allocations made by men and women is explored in three studies. (Editor)

Davies, A. Keith – Education in Chemistry, 1977
Describes the construction of an inexpensive column for gel filtration and results of experiments suitable for undergraduate biochemistry students. (MLH)

Russell, Paul N.; Knight, Robert G. – Journal of Abnormal Psychology, 1977
The response times of 32 process schizophrenics and 16 nonhospitalized controls were compared on three visual search tasks. Results suggest that process schizophrenics are not abnormally slow when extracting information from visual displays, and they appear to perform similar operations and strategies to those of normals when doing so. And Others; Jones, Stanton L. – Journal of Abnormal Psychology, 1977
Examines the relative effectiveness of either partial or total success training as a preventive agent against the debilitating effect of noncontingent reinforcement. (Author/RK)

Fischler, Ira – Journal of Experimental Psychology: Human Perception and Performance, 1977
Subjects were asked to decide if a pair of visually presented letter strings were both words (lexical decision task). Results supported an automatic spread of excitation model of associative facilitation. (Editor/RK)

Haynes, LeRoy W.; Powell, David L. – Teacher, 1977
Changes, reactions, deductions. Five simple experiments add new skills and excitement to science. (Editor)

Smith, E. Kim – Journal of Abnormal Psychology, 1976
The major experimental question, does the double-bind produce anxiety, was asked in the context of the double-bind unit, rather than the more complicated double-bind process, i.e., as it affects one person rather than as it affects both parties involved in a mutual interaction. (Author/RK)
Descriptors: Anxiety, Data Analysis, Experiments, Flow Charts
Modigliani, Vito – Journal of Experimental Psychology: Human Learning and Memory, 1976
Attempts to define the relationships between four measures of recall in a two-recall task, namely (a) initial short-term recall (STR), (b) unconditional final free recall (FFR), (c) final free recall conditionalized on an initial successful recall (FFR/STR), and (d) final free recall conditionalized on an unsuccessful recall (FFR/STR). (Author/RK)

Langer, Ellen J.; And Others – Journal of Experimental Social Psychology, 1976
Three experiments were conducted in order to assess the validity of the novel-stimulus hypothesis as an explanation for why people who are physically different (i.e., novel) are avoided. (Editor)
