This study of the role and use of English in Israel was conducted in 1973. Sources used were census figures, personal interviews, surveys, and personal observations. It is concluded that exposure to English is increasing and that Israelis do not seem opposed to this, as Hebrew retains its prominence. (Author/RM)

A summary of a syntactic analysis of one hundred political slogans. Relatively few of them contain real verbs. This leads to the conclusion that aspect, not tense, is essential. An experiment was conducted to test the hypothesis that students who can verbalize the rules governing such structures as the "ser/estar" dichotomy will be superior in the correct use of the structures.
