Journal of Comparative and International Higher Education, v17 n2 p86-95 2025
The Black Lives Matter movement broke open new spaces to interrogate racism and coloniality in the international aid sector and reinvigorated antiracist and decolonial scholarship in higher education. In this essay, we trace connections between mounting critiques of international aid and the comparative and international higher education programs that prepare students for work in the aid sector, including international education development and education in emergencies. By highlighting key tensions in the aid sector graduate pipeline, we seek to advance conversations that counter the erasures of racism and coloniality within the entangled practitioner and scholarly fields of comparative and international higher education.
