Pea, Roy D. – Journal of Educational Computing Research, 1986
Three classes of conceptual bugs presenting obstacles to all novice programmers and not related to any specific program--parallelism, intentionality, and egocentrism--are identified and exemplified through student errors. It is suggested these bugs are rooted in students' intuitive feeling that programming languages, like humans, have intelligent,…

Rinchuse, Donald J.; Zullo, Thomas – Journal of Dental Education, 1986
Classification according to Bloom's taxonomy of 518 tests items from one dental school's predoctoral written examination revealed almost 84 percent to be at the knowledge level and the remainder at the comprehension level, with none at any higher cognitive level (application, analysis, synthesis, or evaluation). Clark, Eve V.; And Others – Child Development, 1985
In two experiments 96 children and eight adults were tested for comprehension of the modifier-head relation in compounds such as apple-knife or were asked to label objects with compounds. Results show that by age three children reliably interpret novel compounds and made use of novel compounds to subcategorize. (RH)

Hill, P. W. – Australian Journal of Education, 1984
The use of structural equation modeling is discussed in testing a range of theories of learning and cognition involving the concept of a hierarchy of variables of increasing complexity. To illustrate this approach, one method is applied to Bloom's taxonomy to test the theoretical assumption of hierarchical organization. (Author/MSE)

Gendreau, Suzanne M.; And Others – Texas Tech Journal of Education, 1984
The acquisition of verbs may be more difficult than noun acquisition because verbs encode information that is inherently less stable and more ephemeral. A sorting-strategies method was utilized to analyze young children's acquisition of verb meaning. (DF)

O'Donnell, James P.; And Others – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1983
Investigated the usefulness of the Halstead-Reitan Neuropsychological Test Battery (HRNB) in discriminating normal from learning-disabled young adults. Bornstein, Marc H. – American Journal of Psychology, 1976
These experiments seek evidence for the existence, the operation, and the extent of influence of one type of code--a verbal, linguistic, semantic, name code--on memory. As well, they bring a new stimulus dimension, color, to this kind of test in a manner that would allow identification of individual variation in the use of different verbal labels…
