Doherty, Victor W.; Peters, Linda B. – Educational Leadership, 1981
A typology of the terms used in school system planning and evaluation is intended to eliminate inconsistent terminology. (MLF)

Majeres, Raymond L.; O'Toole, Jean – Journal of Genetic Psychology, 1980
Class inclusion problems differing in size of the array and in superordinate class were given to 84 boys and girls in grades 1 through 4 in a first experiment, and 41 boys and girls in grades 3 and 4 in a second experiment. The experiments sought to determine performance variables explaining the developmentally late appearance of class-inclusion…

Fuchs, Karen D.; Turner, Ralph R. – International Journal of Behavioral Development, 1981
Forty second- and third-graders were placed into two groups, classifiers and non-classifiers (determined by Piagetian tasks). Twenty of the subjects were then trained to use feedback to manipulate stimulus attributes, in order to determine whether the effect of the training on concept attainment was similar to that predicted by the application of…

Bjorklund, David F. – International Journal of Behavioral Development, 1980
Second-, third-, and sixth-grade children (N=48) were presented sets of categorically-related pictures, were either prompted or not prompted to identify categories and later asked to recall categories. Recall time for second- and third-grade prompted children was significantly less than for nonprompted peers. No differences were found with sixth…

Behl, Karuna; Gash, Hugh – Journal of Genetic Psychology, 1980
Results support the hypothesis that certain classification skills underlie two types of role-taking ability: (1) in which children were asked how another child would think a cartoon ended if shown only the beginning; and (2) in which children were asked how another child would think a cartoon began if shown only the end. (Author/DB)

Webster, Raymond E.; Lafayette, Ann D. – Journal of Educational Research, 1980
The Bannatyne classification system for differentiating among learning disabled, educable mentally retarded, and emotionally disturbed students is discussed. (JD)

Huynh, Huynh – Psychometrika, 1980
A nonrandomized minimax solution is presented for passing scores on mastery tests using the binomial error model. The computation does not require prior knowledge regarding an individual examinee or group test data for a population of examinees. A scheme which allows for correction for guessing is also described. (Author/JKS)

Markham, Ellen M.; And Others – Cognition, 1980
Children aged 6 to l7 were taught novel class inclusion hierarchies, analogous to the relation among oaks, pines, and trees. The results indicated that the part-whole structure of collections is simpler to establish and maintain than the structure of inclusion. (Author/RL)

Inbar, Dan E. – Review of Educational Research, 1980
Basic trends and developments of educational planning activities are reviewed. Using a cross-analysis of various classifications of educational planning activities and some basic theoretical assumptions about the inherent aspects of the educational process, a conceptual frame of reference is developed. (Author/RL)

Booth, Raydell J.; Howell, Robert J. – Criminal Justice and Behavior, 1980
Megargee's MMPI federal prisoner classification was used to determine validity with prisoners. Similarities and differences were examined and predictive validity was tested. It was concluded that the Megargee system can be used in grouping state prisoners. (Author/RC)

Deckner, C. William; Blanton, Richard L. – Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders, 1980
A procedure (either computerized or manual) designed to assess the discrimination learning thresholds of low functioning psychotic and retarded children is described. (Author)

Lichtenstein, Robert – Journal of Learning Disabilities, 1981
Correlations between the two screening tests and between the screening and criterion measures were inconsistent with prediction rates based on classificational screening test scores. On the basis of correlational validity coefficients, relationships between measures in this study would have been overestimated. (Author/SBH)

Hermelin, B.; O'Connor, N. – Gifted Child Quarterly, 1980
Three experiments compared 14 intellectually gifted, 14 musical, and 14 control Ss (8 to 12 years old) on picture and word classification tasks. Experiments focused on judgments about picture and word pairs, speed of motor response in simple reaction times, and perceptual speed in stimulus identification. (SBH)

Morris, Ellen K. – Journal of Architectural Education, 1980
An introductory architectural history course that compares basic institutional building types produced by different cultures in the past is described. The focus is on understanding that form and use are reflective of the various meanings associated with such types from one time to another and from one civilization to another. (MLW)

Ahmed, Wasi – Journal of Chemical Education, 1979
Presented is a model for solvent effects based on the observation that the excitation energy of all-trans-N-Retinylidenmethyl-n-butylammonium iodide is directly related to the dielectric constant of a series of aromatic and aliphatic solvents as the dielectric constant (e) ranges from 2 to 10.5.
