Data from the WAIS, WISC, and WPPSI Standardization samples were used to reappraise validity of all short forms of two, three, four, and five subtests. Results were compared with those given by McNemar's formula. The corrected formula gave lower values and selected "best short forms that differed from McNemar's formula. (Author)

Results suggest that: (1) the Work Adjustment Rating Form (WARF) is subject to rater bias that can significantly affect the scale's predictive validity for individual raters; (2) rater bias did not affect the mean predictive validity and the mean reliability estimate; and (3) rater bias can be minimized by using more than one rater. The effect of a season of little league baseball on the self-esteem of 94 pre-adolescent players was investigated. The Coopersmith Self-esteem Inventory and a newly devised Baseball-Self scale were administered. Significant improvements in players' total Self-esteem, Home-Parents and School-Academic scores were found. (Author/PN)
