Swiercinsky, Dennis P.; Hallenbeck, Charles E. – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1975
The interest in this study was to determine the factor structure of the independent variables in a brain-damaged population and to assess its predictive value for complex test variables independent of those variables that determine the factor set. (Author/RK)
Descriptors: Factor Analysis, Factor Structure, Neurological Impairments, Psychological Studies

McNeil, Keith A. – College Student Journal, 1974
The goal of the present research was to determine the factor structure of anxiety in a collegiate population. The self-report instrument found useful with elementary students was slightly modified and administered to the college students. Only slight discrepancies appeared between the elementary data and the college data. (Author)

Permut, Steven E. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1974
Underlying factor structure of 10 concepts rated by 67 students in an introductory advertising course was examined. Dimensions of relevance were found to conform to results reported by Menges and Trumpeter (1971) suggesting the potential for a university of basic dimensions of educational relevance across diverse fields of learning. (Author/RC)
Descriptors: Factor Analysis, Factor Structure, Higher Education, Questionnaires
Gustafsson, Jan-Eric – 1982
The problem of the structure of human abilities is approached within the framework of higher order confirmatory factor analysis. Non-hierarchical models suggested by Thurstone and Guilford are reviewed, and it is concluded that these models fail to give a theoretically and practically useful representation of the organization of human abilities.…

Delaney, J. O.; Maguire, T. O. – Multivariate Behavioral Research, 1974
Twelve divergent production tests were administered to two groups of adolescents with average Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC) IQ's of 69.5 and 104.5. Six divergent production factors were extracted in each group and rotated to a target derived from Guilford's Structure of Intellect Model. The subnormal group fitted better to the…

Kane, Robert B. – J Exp Educ, 1969
Research supported by a grant from the U.S. Office of Education. 1
Descriptors: Concept Formation, Education Majors, Elementary School Teachers, Evaluation
Britton, Peter G.; Savage, R. Douglass – J Genet Psychol, 1969
Descriptors: Age, Factor Analysis, Factor Structure, Older Adults
Osborne, William J.; And Others – 1973
Recently, behavioral scientists have examined interpersonal manipulation and its effects on individuals, groups, and society. Richard Christie's description of the Machiavellian personality orientation highlights the behaviors of those individuals who are highly successful manipulators of others. Scanning some Machiavellian works for items to tap…

Wilmoth, James Noel – 1973
Variables that affect the deductive reasoning of adult students are isolated and relevant literature reviewed in order to facilitate the design of a reliable measurement instrument. The relationships of previous instruction, cultural background, occupation, intelligence, sex, and reasoning habits to test scores of examinees are discussed. Studies…
Descriptors: Deduction, Factor Structure, Logic, Measurement Techniques
Wheaton, George R.; And Others – 1973
The relationship between variations in an auditory signal identification task and consequent changes in the abilities related to identification performance was investigated. Characteristics of the signal identification task were manipulated by varying signal duration and signal-to-noise ratio. Subjects received a battery of reference ability tests…
Descriptors: Auditory Perception, Factor Analysis, Factor Structure, Predictive Measurement

McDonald, Roderick P. – Psychometrika, 1978
The relationship between the factor structure of a convariance matrix and the factor structure of a partial convariance matrix when one or more variables are partialled out of the original matrix is given in this brief note. (JKS)
Descriptors: Analysis of Covariance, Correlation, Factor Analysis, Factor Structure

Allen, Mary J. – Multivariate Behavioral Research, 1978
The factor differentiation hypothesis suggests that the factor structure of a set of tests tends to differentiate over time, becoming more complex and articulated. This experimental study provides evidence confirming that hypothesis. (Author/JKS)
Descriptors: Difficulty Level, Enlisted Personnel, Factor Analysis, Factor Structure

Kaufman, Alan S.; McLean, James E. – Journal of School Psychology, 1987
Investigated factor structures of Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-Revised (WISC-R) and Kaufman Assessment Battery for Children (K-ABC) for 212 normal children. Findings suggest correspondence between: (1) WISC-R Verbal Comprehension and K-ABC Achievement; (2) WISC-R Perceptual Organization and K-ABC Simultaneous Processing; and (3) WISC-R…

Norris, Joan E.; And Others – Gerontologist, 1987
Examination of factors derived from responses to the Facts on Aging Quiz were found to be different from those determined intuitively by Facts on Aging Quiz's author Palmore. Found reliability and validity of scale to be moderate and recommended Facts on Aging Quiz be used for only educational and not research purposes. (Author/ABL)
Descriptors: Aging (Individuals), Factor Structure, Knowledge Level, Test Reliability

Piotrowski, Chris; Dunham, Frances Y. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1984
Research on the semantic differential technique has provided evidence for variance in Osgood's formulation of dimensions of connotative meaning. Retest data based on Piotrowski's original sample is reported. Results indicate support for stability and consistency of the Evaluation dimension. Moderate consistency was found in scales comprising the…
