A 13-year-old learning-disabled subject received a daily amount of trading stamps contingent on school attendance. Results showed a significant decrease in truancy from three to four days per week to less than one. A reversal design indicated that truancy could be controlled by the contingency procedure. Asserting that teacher attention is often overlooked as a positive intervention strategy, this article presents a general overview of teacher attention and its effectiveness in changing behavior. Practical suggestions for effective teacher approval are described, as is a principle called "pairing" which may be used for social reinforcement. (JC)

Like universities, the correctional programs that produce the most successful graduates are those with the most stringent entrance requirements. This study indicates that providing misdemeanant services does reduce recidivism and that the amount of reduction is closely related to the type of service. (Author)
