A group of student teachers and their subgroups were categorized on the basis of priorities assigned to expectations arrayed in a 60-item Q sort. Evaluation of classification skills of 88 unimpaired children (grades K, 2, 4, and 6) were evaluated using the Iconic-Symbolic test (IS) of the Muma Assessment Program and follow-up interviews. Results found little relationship between the rationales the children reported using and the classification criteria presumed by the IS procedure. (DB)

A 20-item Piagetian-type sorting task was presented to 12 unilaterally brain-injured adult patients and 12 non-injured controls. The left hemisphere brain-injured subjects and the controls showed preferences for the features of shape and texture. In contrast, the right hemisphere brain-injured subjects preferred the feature of size. (Author)
