Peer reviewedRussell, Stephen F.; Ludenia, Krista – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1983
Examined the psychometric properties of the Multidimensional Health Locus of Control (MHLC) Scales with alcoholic patients (N=100). The three MHLC Scales appear to measure largely independent dimensions of locus of control beliefs specifically related to health. Factor analyses suggest that the instrument is factorily valid. (Author/JAC)

Twenty-nine third and fourth grade learning disabled children's attributions for success and failure were examined. Peer reviewedGehrke, Nathalie J.; Parker, Walter Chalmerse – NASSP Bulletin, 1983
The literature suggests collaborative planning is purely egalitarian, but this article identifies a form called "dialectical collaboration" providing situationally determined variations in the locus of control. Peer reviewedEdwards, Clifford H. – Peabody Journal of Education, 1982
A more balanced approach to learning is proposed which incorporates a system of control that does not impinge upon the freedom of students. The stewardship principle embodies elements of both freedom and control while possessing as its base the free exercise of responsibility. (JN)

Peer reviewedLinn, Richard T.; Hodge, Gordon K. – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1982
Assessed locus of control in a group of 32 boys. Compared to normal controls, hyperactive children scored more external on locus-of-control scale. The findings indicate the value of appraising locus of control and other personality and social variables when treating the hyperactive child. (Author/JAC)
