The author examines the principle findings of several coalition game studies designed to test Caplow's theory of coalitions. Alternative theoretical explanations of these findings are noted. A means by which the research findings in this field may be integrated into a more comprehensive theory of coalition choice behavior is suggested. (SM)

Studies with animals indicate that conditioned learning responses formed by non-drugged animals do not transfer to the drug state and vice versa. Prenatal exposure to the Dutch famine of 1944-45 had no detectable effects on the adult mental performance of surviving male offspring; birth weight was not related to mental performance; and the association of social class with mental performance was strong. (AL)

Subjects discussed or studied situations involving conflicts between universalistic and particularistic obligations, or they discussed items dealing with physical education. A shift toward greater universalism was obtained only in the condition where subjects discussed the conflicts. (RB)

Argues that behavioral approach has been empirically demonstrated to be effective in altering problem behavior, and offers advantages over more traditional approaches.
