There is a conflict in the literature on selective attention. Five experiments were conducted to resolve this conflict, and all involved a comparison of tachistoscopic recognition when alternatives were either presented beforehand or not. (Editor/RK)

Reports the results of studies of perception of very young infants. Sixty infants 6 to 23 days old were presented objects; looking-at and reaching-for the objects were measured. Results indicated active visual exploration of objects did occur; however, little motor activity was directed toward the objects. (SL)

Five children diagnosed as having a perceptual problem as revealed by the Bender Visual Motor Gestalt Test received special tutoring to help develop their visual discrimination abilities. The six-week program for teaching the concept of shapes employed kinesthetic, visual, tactile, and verbal processes. (CS)

The internal reliability of the Speech Sounds Perception Test was examined in two independent samples. Both indicated a significantly greater number of errors on the first half of the test; the largest number of errors occurred on Subtests B and A. Reliability coefficients and a performance classification formula are discussed. (Author/CM)
