Soukup, Rudolf W.; Schmid, Roland – Journal of Chemical Education, 1985
Although indicators are omnipresent tools in aqueous chemistry, they have not been used extensively to assign solvent properties in nonaqueous systems. Therefore, recent research into a system of metal complexes that can be used to assign donor and acceptor numbers to nonaqueous solvents is summarized. Pertinent experiments are also described. (JN)

Seddon, G. M.; Shubber, K. E. – Research in Science and Technological Education, 1984
Investigated use of overhead transparencies containing a sequence of diagrams to represent a three-dimensional structure at different stages during a rotation. Significant learning occurred among 120 Bahraini boys (aged 15-16) when the transparencies contained multi-colored diagrams which were exposed simultaneously or individually in a cumulative…
Descriptors: Color, Diagrams, Molecular Structure, Science Education
Kater, David – Popular Computing, 1984
Discusses print quality, speed, print modes, buffers, and character sets of daisy-wheel and dot-matrix printers; briefly reviews features needed to print graphics and color; and presents a chart listing over 30 typical daisy-wheel and dot-matrix printers for comparison of features and price. (MBR)
Descriptors: Color, Comparative Analysis, Computer Graphics, Costs

Burton, David – Art Education, 1984
Most schools teach the triadic color system, utilizing red, blue, and yellow as primary colors. Other systems, such as additive and subtractive color systems, Munsell's Color Notation System, and the Hering Opponent Color Theory, can broaden children's concepts and free them to better choose color in their own work. (IS)

Progressive Architecture, 1976
High intensity discharge lighting sources share the compactness and beam controllability of incandescent sources, but are far more efficient and longer-lived. They share the efficiency and long life of fluorescent sources, but are compact and optically controllable, and are available in higher wattages. (Author/MLF)

Cantrell, David P.; Cross, Henry A. – Journal of Experimental Child Psychology, 1976
An experiment tested for the Moss Harlow Effect in 3- and 5-year-olds with stimulus novelty equated. Experimental groups familiarized themselves with each pair of test objects by sorting them, then received a P or N information trial and test trials. (JH)

Longo, Palma J. – 2001
A long-term study was conducted to test the effectiveness of visual thinking networking (VTN), a new generation of knowledge representation strategies with 56 ninth grade earth science students. The recent findings about the brain's organization and processing conceptually ground VTN as a new cognitive tool used by learners when making their…

Wallace, Jane Bruner – 2000
Two third grade classes in a private school in North Carolina were given keyboarding instruction using Sunburst's "Type To Learn." So that the effects of color-coding could be examined, one class was given standard keyboards to use (control group), while the other was given keyboards that were color-coded according to proper finger placement…

Brick, Robert H.; Walls, Richard T. – Child Study Journal, 1973
Ratings over five repeated measures and a two week follow-up indicated that color preferences shifted markedly, yielding the expected interaction. The racial implications of these findings are discussed. (Authors)
