Peer reviewedStein, Kenneth B. – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1971
The results from the present study indicate that in a sample of psychotherapy patients, cooperative and less cooperative research subjects are distinguishable on a number of characteristics including background and psychotherapy variables. These results caution against generalizations based merely on cooperative participants. (Author)

Peer reviewedWillson, Victor L. – Evaluation and Program Planning: An International Journal, 1981
It is argued that time generalizability exists independent of population and situation generalizability, although the three may interact. Problems associated with sampling and randomization efficacy over time are discussed. (Author/GK)
Descriptors: Generalization, Research Design, Research Problems, Sampling
Peer reviewedSmith, Nick L.; Caulley, Darrel N. – Evaluation and Program Planning: An International Journal, 1979
Literature on the generalizability of program effects focuses on the a priori development of evaluation designs which enable certain generalizations to be made. Secondary analysis procedures which can be employed using existing evaluation data to estimate a program's generalizability when follow-up field studies are not feasible are suggested.…

Descriptors: Generalization, Infants, Labeling (of Persons), Language Acquisition
Peer reviewedKoegel, Robert L.; And Others – Journal of Experimental Child Psychology, 1980
Investigated whether (1) a highly discriminable treatment procedure in one setting would produce a behavioral contrast effect in unmanipulated settings, and whether (2) such contrast-like trends could be eliminated if initially different reinforcement procedures in two settings were subsequently made similar. (Author/DB)
Descriptors: Autism, Behavior Change, Children, Evaluation
Peer reviewedBucher, Bradley; Okovita, Hymie – Journal of Experimental Child Psychology, 1977
