Dormitory residents were trained in first aid procedures, and assigned to lecture-only, lecture plus modeling and rehearsal, or no-lecture groups. As predicted, lecture plus modeling and rehearsal group was superior to the lecture-only, which was superior to the no-lecture group. (NG)

Explores behavioral and emotional responses during the divorce process. Men and women (N=252) were interviewed about traumas and advantages associated with stages of divorce already experienced. The Friendly Visitor Program was designed to reduce social isolation. Visits were made by trained visitors to 23 isolated, elderly New York City residents. For the experimental group only apartment upkeep and mental state improved and isolation diminished at the time of follow-up, indicating friendly visiting probably was therapeutic. (Author)

This paper examines political behavior among two samples of Mexican-American elderly. The findings show that the Mexican-American elderly have relatively low rates of political activity and a sense of efficacy.
