Halote, Barry; Michael, William B. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1984
Scores of 202 primarily Hispanic community college students were used to determine (1) the correlations of each of five factor subscales of a research form of the dimensions of Self-Concept (DOSC) measure with the Total Score of the Academic Self-Concept Scale and (2) the empirical factor structure of each instrument. (Author/BS)

Hawk, Jane W.; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1984
The Mikulecky Behavioral Reading Attitude Measure (MBRAM) was designed to measure secondary and postsecondary respondents' attitudes toward reading based on Krathwohl's affective development model. Pascale, Pietro J.; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1984
The development and validation of an instrument to assess the needs and concerns of elementary school substitutes are described. Bunting, Carolyn E. – Journal of Experimental Education, 1984
An inventory assessing teachers' attitudes concerning learning processes, priorities, and student-teacher relationships was administered. An oblique factor solution yielded four moderately independent dimensions of belief describing affective and cognitive values, directive teaching behavior, and subject matter relevancy. The significance of the…

Schurr, K. Terry; Henriksen, L. W. – Journal of Educational Measurement, 1983
Using three different forms of a 61-item administrator/supervisor questionnaire, the effects of both order and grouping were examined in separate analyses. For low-inference type items, factor structures obtained from survey data appear to be affected by item order, and, to a lesser extent, by grouping items. (Author/PN)

Peterson, Anne C.; And Others – Journal of Youth and Adolescence, 1984
The Self-Image Questionnaire for Young Adolescents (SIQYA), an adaptation of the Offer Self-Image Questionnaire (OSIQ), designed to measure aspects of self-image among young adolescents, was administered to two groups of sixth graders. The development of the SIQYA is described and reliability and validity results are presented. (EGS)

Chodzinski, Raymond T. – Canadian Counsellor, 1983
Investigated the Career Maturity Inventory (CMI) using 535 Canadian high school students. As expected, intelligence, grade, and sex were significant predictors of the CMI variables. However, evidence for discriminant validity was unsatisfactory and inconsistent with the theoretical framework of CMI. (JAC)

Wang, Yan; Ye, Feifei; Jackson, Golden; Rodgers, Robert; Jones, Susan – Association for Institutional Research (NJ1), 2005
Service-learning courses focus on both service experience and academic learning. Academic content is covered in both the classroom and the service experience, and the service experiences are reflected upon and processed in the classroom. Based on educational values, potential outcomes can be classified as development of personal competence,…

White, Barbara L.; Daniel, Larry G. – 2000
The purposes of this study were to devise and provide validity and reliability data for scores on an instrument measuring attitudes toward school violence and to develop importance ratings of the items based on data from teachers in a high school that had experienced a highly publicized violent episode. Two independent samples were used. Based on…

Vernon, P. E. – Alberta Journal of Educational Research, 1972
Results of the battery of verbal divergent thinking tests differed markedly between the sexes and the test battery showed superior validity among girls. (Author/CB)
Descriptors: Creativity Tests, Divergent Thinking, Factor Structure, Grade 8

McLeish, John – Alberta Journal of Educational Research, 1973
Students' opinions about their college environments are related to objectively determined features of their academic community; also to the actual measured changes which take place in these students on three year courses, shown by examination results, attitude and personality changes, values of a personal, social and religious kind. (Author)

Reece, Mary J.; Gable, Robert K. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1982
A 10 item Attitudes Toward Computers instrument was developed to measure the attitudes of students toward the use of computers. A factorial validity study revealed one identifiable factor dimension entitled General Attitude Toward Computers with an estimated alpha internal consistency reliability of .87. (Author/PN)

Zagar, Robert; Mead, John D. – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1983
Explored the hierarchical structure of mental abilities by comparing principal component analysis with a hierarchical cluster analysis algorithm on a short test battery for 182 children. Both the linear principal component analysis and the nonlinear hierarchical clustering analysis confirmed the hierarchical organization of mental abilities. (JAC)
