Leming, James S. – Journal of Moral Education, 1976
Using step-wise multiple regression analyses, regression equations were generated for sixty school age subjects with choice and stage of moral reasoning on moral dilemmas as the dependent variables. The implications of the findings for further research and curriculum were discussed. (Editor/RK)

Ivory, Gary; Martinez, Mario C. – 2003
This study used multiple regression analysis to ascertain the extent to which states' grades on the "Education Week""Quality Counts" report cards for P-12 predicted states' grades on the National Center for Public Policy in Higher Education's "Measuring Up" report cards. "Quality Counts" graded states' P-12…

Lu, Yao-Chi; Tweeten, Luther – Growth and Change, 1973
Quantifies the impact of time spent riding a bus on 4th, 6th, 8th, and 11th grade students' achievement based on data from a 1970 Statewide survey of Oklahoma students. The null hypothesis was tested that busing has no effect on student achievement. Findings revealed that at an .01 level of significance, bus riding time reduces achievement for 4th…

Durbin, Elizabeth – Journal of Human Resources, 1973
Using 1960 Census data for New York City, regression equations are developed to test empirically: (1) the relationship between the proportion of female-headed households and ADC incidence and (2) the effect of ADC incidence on male and female labor force participation rates. (Editor)

Aigner, Dennis J. – Management Science, 1972
Establishes an argument that questions the validity of one test'' of goodness-of-fit (the extent to which a series of obtained measures agrees with a series of theoretical measures) for the simulated time path of a simple endogenous (internally developed) variable in a simultaneous, perhaps dynamic econometric model. Reed, Cheryl L.; And Others – Journal of Educational Measurement, 1972
Purpose of this investigation was to determine whether the inclusion of quadratic and/or interaction terms in a regression model would improve the prediction of student nurses' grade point averages. (Authors)

Barro, Stephen M. – Phi Delta Kappan, 1970
Assuming a value added model of education, accountability measures can be developed to improve resource allocation, to more effectively select and assign personnel, and to enhance program evaluation and research. (RA)

Thompson, Bruce – Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1982
Virtually all parametric statistical procedures have been shown to be special cases of canonical correlation analysis. This article proposes a logic for conducting stepwise canonical correlation analyses, based upon evaluation of canonical communality coefficients. The procedure is a direct analogue of stepwise multiple regression. (Author/RD)

Sara, Nathir G.; Rodgers, Frederick A. – Journal of Educational Administration, 1982
Data from a random sample of principals and superintendents were analyzed to test hypotheses concerning the relationships between self-monitoring and selected personal, organizational, and community variables. Findings were that community urbanity, cost per pupil of programs, and administrator's age are significant predictors of high…

Robinson, John P. – American Behavioral Scientist, 1983
The Leisure Activity Survey is a large national data set collected in 1982 by the Bureau of the Census for the National Endowment for the Arts. Selected preliminary findings are discussed and several other uses of the data set are suggested. (Author/RM)

Reeves, Byron; Garramone, Gina – Human Communication Research, 1982
Measured children's identification with and perceived reality of television characters and children's rating of peers on 11 traits. Found, among other results, that identification with television characters was a significant predictor of the mean evaluation of peers, and that television viewing was a significant predictor of the variance in…
