A 190-item survey instrument, designed to assess subgroup differences in the behavioral criteria for mental illness labeling, was administered to 241 adults from two populations. The study focused on home economics research activities in 62 land-grant universities. The results indicate that while a sizeable portion of qualified faculty were not involved in research, 700 individuals were identified as active in their field. The purpose of this study was to investigate the usefulness of the Career Maturity Inventory (CMI) as a measure of vocational maturity.
