Behavioral studies have shown that youths in various settings can function effectively as behavior change agents. The study used five 15- to 18- year-old male youths in a closed institutional setting as behavior change agents for five male youth counselors. Staff increased their frequency of positive verbal comments. (Author)

As time spent in academic research becomes more controversial, it is proposed that a quantitative measure of research productivity be applied to faculty efforts. The formula takes into account single- and multiple-author publication rates and appropriate types of publication. The validity of a publication rate index is discussed. (MSE)

The present study addressed the question of whether persons' implicit personality theories include the notion that the possession of masculine and feminine characteristics tend to preclude each other so that the two clusters of attributes are perceived to be negatively correlated. Entering freshmen were surveyed for their perception of needs for eight kinds of career information and for their awareness and understanding of career planning. The results show substantial perceived needs in six of the eight kinds of information and reveal two areas of misconception concerning career planning. (Author)

Data from questionnaires mailed to a sample of full professors were used to test the hypothesis that as persons advance through career stages, they are granted greater latitude in, and have greater inclination for, the expression of creative research activity within a broader perspective. Examines the relationship between older people's participation in voluntary associations and their sense of well-being. The effects of a career group experience on the vocational maturity of theoretically grouped college freshmen and sophomores were investigated using Super's Career Development Inventory as the dependent measure. Findings challenge the idea that American children are relatively more deprived of nurturing behavior from the father figure.
