Analysis of employment patterns of methadone maintenance clients had indicated that the majority were not employed at time of program admission. Subjects viewed one of two female confederate counselors exploring a female confederate client's problem and attempt to influence. Significant results were higher ratings of counselor expertness for the expert than the referent power base, and higher ratings of counselor expertness for low status within the expert power base. Korman and Super differ in regarding vocational self-concept crystallization of high and low self-esteem persons. This was measured by the Tennessee Self-Concept Scale using undergraduate students.
