Compares a family relations class composed of dating couples with a similar family relations class composed on noncouples, with regard to their learning course material and their attitude toward the class. Parents from child-abuse and matched-control families were examined for variation of life-change scores, perceptions of physical and emotional health, and punitiveness of their own parents. Abusive parents had higher life-change scores, more numerous perceptions of emotion physical ill health, and more punitive childhoods. (Author)

This study found that the level of nonverbal behavior had a significant effect on 39 out of 40 ratings made by professional interviewers. Dimensions most influenced by nonverbal behavior were enthusiasm/motivation, confidence in self, and persuasiveness. (Author)

Investigated construct validity of four self-report, self-concept instruments: Bledsoe Self-Concept Scale (BSCS), Children's Self-Concept Scale (CSCS), Self-Esteem Inventory (SEI) and Purdue Self-Concept Scale (PSCS). In assessing the self-concepts of 175 fourth-grade children convergent validity of the tests was not established. (Author)

Standard scores on comparable scales of the Strong-Campbell Interest Inventory and the ACT Interest Inventory were intercorrelated to test construct validity of the instruments. Significant correlations were found for the comparable scales demonstrating construct validity for male and female high school students (N=91). (Author)

This article describes an attempt to differntiate Holland's six types by means of personality need variables. Participants were administered Holland's VPI and Jackson's Personality Research Form (PRF). One-way analyses of variance revealed that PRF variables could not differentiate Holland's six types. To determine the extent to which multiservice centers serve the varied needs of the senior population, this study examined users of a Senior Center and three groups of nonusers: persons only attending a nutrition site, former center participants, and persons who never participated.
