Psychological and acoustic properties of the distress vocalizations of five infants were rated on a scale from "definitely fuss" to "definitely cry" by mothers on two home visits. Analyses revealed that mothers rated infant vocalizations reliably along a fuss-cry continuum, both immediately and three weeks later. (Author/CL)

The factor-analytic structure of the SRBCSS (Scale for Rating Behavioral Characteristics of Superior Children) was analyzed to determine whether the factors found are similar to the behavioral dimensions that the SRBCSS purports to assess.
