To examine the bias that may exist in reports of adaptive behaviors of retarded children, the perceptions of teachers and parents regarding the adaptive behavior of selected moderately or severely retarded children were compared. The behavior of 95 children (grades three through six) was rated by two groups of teachers using the Revised Behavior Problem Checklist.
