This article considers some of the major trends and factors influencing the role of Local Education Authority (LEA) advisers. Included are: studies of advisers' role perceptions, discussion of the dichotomy between their two major roles (inspector and teacher adviser), and issues in the size and structure of advisory teams. The relationship between formal planning and the performance of university student teams competing in a comprehensive business simulation is examined. Subjects were 182 teams of business students organized into 32 competitive sets. Statistical testing indicated that planning teams performed significantly better than nonplanning teams. (Author)

Business students (n=22) who completed writing assignments in face-to-face collaborations were compared to those (n=40) using group support systems software.
