The effect of a model on subjects' willingness to engage in self-disclosure was examined in both laboratory and nonlaboratory settings. Disclosure levels did not differ in the two settings. Subjects not exposed to a model were more willing to engage in disclosure in the laboratory than in a nonlaboratory setting. (Author)

Therapists (N=30) rated bipolar adjectives of the Sex-Role Stereotypes Questionnaire as to which pole was a problem for their average male and female clients. Bivariate analyses, based on a national cross-sectional sample of college students, demonstrate weak relationships between socioeconomic background measures and two indicators of sexual permissiveness. Salient predictors of permissiveness are political preference, religion, and region of location for women or cognitive achievement for men. (Author)

A sample of 40 college subjects were asked to rate counselor warmth and empathy after viewing videosegments of non-verbal body language. Arm and leg positions significantly affected the ratings of counselor warmth and empathy. The arms-crossed position was the least empathic position. (Author)
