Proposes that parental trust of adolescents is based on knowledge. Results show that parental knowledge of daily activities that came form child's spontaneous disclosure was closely related to parental trust. A survey of 1,001 Hong Kong adults found a discrepancy between perceived prevalence and the ability to name different child abuse types without prompting.
