Peer reviewedBerk, Ronald A. – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1982
Analyzed the reliability, abnormality, and validity of Verbal Performance discrepancy scores on the WISC-R in relation to clinical decision making about learning disabilities. Descriptors: Diagnostic Tests, Educational Diagnosis, Elementary Education, Elementary School Students
Peer reviewedCollaer, Marcia Lee; Evans, James R. – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1982
Obtained normative data from 305 children on a Coding Recall Measure adapted from the WISC-R. Although coding recall has face validity as a visual memory measure, there are some contradictions to such clinical use in view of possible lack of representativeness of the sample and limited reliability and validity. (Author/JAC)
Descriptors: Elementary Secondary Education, Psychological Evaluation, Recall (Psychology), Retention (Psychology)
Peer reviewedGallerani, David; And Others – Psychology in the Schools, 1982
Examined construction of different predictive models for readiness for first grade, using data from prekindergarten screening. Found 45.6 percent to 75.9 percent of the children correctly classified. Peer reviewedNichta, Lawrence J., Jr.; And Others – Psychology in the Schools, 1982

Peer reviewedFarmer, Walter A.; And Others – Journal of Research in Science Teaching, 1982
Determined the degree to which classification of students (N=512) as formal or concrete based on three Inhelder tasks administered by clinical interview method was mirrored by Longeot and Karplus-Lawson-Renner (KLR) classifications. Bond, Lloyd – New Directions for Testing and Measurement, 1981
While some forms of test bias (for example, bias in selection and prediction) appear amenable to definitional consensus, a definition of cultural bias will remain problematic so long as it is confused with the nature/nurture issue. (Author/BW)
